This policy explains what information Coronation Chess collects, why, and how you can control it. Coronation Chess is a chess app offering local pass-and-play, an AI opponent at five difficulty levels, a daily puzzle, a timed Puzzle Rush mode, and optional accounts for live multiplayer, friends, messaging, achievements, and leaderboards.
Creating an account is optional — local play, the AI opponent, the Daily Puzzle, and Puzzle Rush all work without one. Signing in is required only for live multiplayer, friends, messaging, and having your progress saved to an account rather than just your device. If you create an account, we collect:
If you use friends or messaging, we store your friends list, sent and received friend requests, and the messages you send to friends. Messages are only visible to you and the friend you're messaging.
You can block another player at any time — this removes any existing friendship or pending request between you and prevents them from sending you new friend requests, game invites, or messages. Blocking is enforced on our servers, not just hidden in the app, and nobody can see who has blocked them or browse anyone else's block list.
You can also report a user (for harassment, spam, inappropriate content, or other concerns), optionally with a short note. Reports are sent for our review and are not visible to the reported user or to anyone other than us.
Coronation Chess shows ads via Google AdMob to support free use of the app (Pro removes them). On iOS, we ask for permission (via Apple's App Tracking Transparency system) before using your device's advertising identifier to show more relevant ads. If you decline, you'll still see ads, just less personalized ones. AdMob may also collect other device and advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads regardless of this choice. We don't control what AdMob itself collects — see Google's Privacy Policy for details.
In-app purchases — the one-time Pro unlock and consumable hint packs — are processed by Apple's App Store and managed through RevenueCat, which tells us what you've purchased so the app can unlock it or add hints to your balance. We never see your payment details — Apple handles those directly. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for details.
Hint pack purchases made while signed in are saved to your account the same way other progress is; purchases made while signed out are only saved to that device.
With your permission, Coronation Chess can send a daily local reminder to come back and play. This notification is scheduled entirely on your device — no data about you is sent anywhere to make this happen. You can turn this off anytime in Settings, and can revoke notification permission entirely in your device's system settings.
We do not sell your personal information.
Account and gameplay data is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore). Firebase applies industry-standard security practices; see Firebase's Privacy and Security policies for details.
Coronation Chess is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
